Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

  Job Summary

This is a full-time position for an industrial maintenance mechanic which includes working with the maintenance supervisor to perform reactive maintenance, PM’s, troubleshooting of plastics equipment and supporting setup technicians during changeover events.

Shift Hours: 12pm-8pm with the ability to work with an on-call rotation.

Training will occur 6am-2pm for the first 90 days or as needed.

Duties

  • Support equipment availability by successful work order      and equipment preventative maintenance completion.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure      building systems operate efficiently.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to      correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as      necessary.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of all production      equipment and building systems.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualification and Skill Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Formal training in mechanical, electrical or industrial      maintenance preferred
  • Ability to obtain a qualifying electrical license from      the Minnesota Department of Labor- (unlicensed registered, maintenance      electrician)

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of maintenance in a manufacturing environment      experience preferred.

Skills:

  • An operational knowledge of industrial machinery which      includes; motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3 phase power,      communication devices, industrial / electronic controls and power      transmission systems.
  • A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • PLC trouble shooting and problem-solving ability with      practical, mechanical & electrical aptitude.
  • Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and      mechanical drawings.
  • Mid-level fabrication & machining skills, with      knowledge on reading prints and drawings.
  • Must be fully computer literate with Microsoft      environment.
  • Strong mechanical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must excel in a result driven team environment, while      having the ability to work independently.
  • Able to use measuring tools; micrometers, calipers, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to walk, stand and maintain balance for an      entire 8-12 hour shift.
  • Must be able to reach, bend and grasp small to large      tools and pieces of equipment.
  • Must be able to read machine shop and equipment gages,      displays and indicators.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds at waist level,      a distance of 30 feet without assistance frequently in an 8-12 hour shift.
  • Must be able to climb and descend a flight of stairs      with and without load frequently in an 8-12 hour shift.
  • Must be able to effectively use standard personal      protective equipment (PPE), especially eye, foot, hand and inhalation      protection.

Ability to work in environments with common chemicals to the plastics industry known to cause exposure sensitivities. 

Machine Operator-Extrusion

  Job Summary

This is a full-time position for a twin screw extruder operator who will be responsible for setup, operation, troubleshooting of equipment and processing/supporting manufacturing. We provide a structured training program to ensure your success as an operator.

Shifts Available: 2nd (2pm-10pm) and 3rd (10pm-6am)

Day-to-day Tasks

  • Operational: Setup, Operation, Tear Down, and Cleaning
  • Development Support: Working with Project Managers and      Technicians
  • Record Keeping: Tracking operational data, quality, line      issues
  • Material Handling: Material selection, tracking, and      staging for use
  • QC-Perform & Identify: Perform quality analysis on      finished goods to verify product is on target

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and/or stand for an entire 8-hour shift
  • Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and scissor lift
  • Must be able to effectively use standard personal      protective equipment (PPE), especially eye, foot, hand and inhalation      protection
  • Ability to work in environments with common chemicals to      the plastics industry known to cause exposure sensitivities

Qualification and Skill Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work alone and in small      teams with good interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to follow verbal or written instructions, warnings      and product information (including safety and technical data) with an      attention to detail.
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, mechanical      aptitude and organizational skills

Nice to Have

  • Some post-secondary education or military experience.
  • Previous Extrusion Experience
